Conference

Algorithms and Competition

June 17, 2021

Online

Objectives:

A leading group of TSE economists will give nontechnical lectures, partly based on their own recent research, on the following topics: artificial intelligence and collusion, the actual impact of algorithmic pricing on competition in tight oligopolies, and how platforms respond to the use of algorithmic pricing by their business users.

The course will end with a policy session where participants from competition agencies and practitioners will discuss the use of algorithms by the former and will debate how competition enforcement should respond to the use of algorithms by companies.

Key benefits:

  • Learn about the most recent and relevant findings on the impact of artificial intelligence on the dynamics of competition.

  • Listen to competition agencies and practitioners discuss how competition enforcement should respond to the use of algorithms in oligopoly markets.

  • Debate with speakers and discussants about the most relevant issues concerning the use of algorithms as screening devices by competition agencies.
