"Where has the Common Good gone? " This question, important to Jean Tirole, 2014 Nobel laureate in economics, had never been so topical as with the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021. It was the theme of the two-day "Common Good Summit" organized by the Toulouse School of Economics and Challenges on May 27 and 28, 2021. Several Nobel laureates (Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee, Amartya Sen, Bengt Holmstrom, Angus Deaton) joined Jean Tirole to exchange with international economic leaders, top executives, and academics from the world's major universities (Philippe Aghion, Daron Acemoglu, Olivier Blanchard, Hélène Rey...) on regulating capitalism and safeguarding the notion of the common good after the pandemic. Hundreds of thousands of Internet users, connected live or through replay, were able to access the debates, according to the triple vocation of TSE and Challenges: lifting the "veil of ignorance," going beyond the frontiers of knowledge, and reaching out beyond academic circles.
