Biography
Violeta Haas is a Political Scientist and Research Fellow at IAST. Her research connects insights from comparative politics and political behavior to understand how institutions and elites shape public opinion and intergroup relations, with a special focus on sexuality and gender. She also works on social norms, electoral behavior, party competition, and social movements. Methodologically, Violeta specializes in strategies for causal identification, quantitative text analysis, as well as survey and field experiments. Before joining IAST, she received a PhD from the DYNAMICS Research Training Group, a joint initiative between the Hertie School of Governance and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. During her PhD, Violeta was a visiting researcher at The Mamdouha S. Bobst Center for Peace and Justice and the Department of Politics, through the Initiatives on Contemporary European Affairs (ICEA) at Princeton University. She is also part of The Humboldt Governance Lab (Humboldt GovLab).
