The institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse (IAST), in partnership with TSE and the CNRS, is holding a new series of Distinguished lectures for this 2017 academic year. IAST welcomes the public to hear from some of the world’s most high-profile thinkers in behavioral economics, law and history as they investigate our ideas about judgment.
Nicola LACEY from London School of economics, will talk on The Gender of Crime, on Thursday November 16th at 6pm.
The lecture will take place in the Cujas Amphitheater (anciennes facultés) of the Toulouse Capitole University, 2 rue des Puits Creusés.

Why is crime overwhelmingly dominated by men?
Legal scholar NICOLA LACEY compares the treatment of women in the criminal process with changing attitudes in literature – from wild Moll Flanders to the polite heroines who followed. Early criminologists’ panic about women’s liberation was misplaced: it has not caused a surge in female offenders. But what will the future hold if ideas about female deviance now focus on badness rather than madness?
